On Familiarity and Otherness

“To be Black and British is to have a strange relationship with immigration. Not too long ago we were stoically soldiering on in the face of cries to “go back to where you came from!”, spat at us by red-faced yobs. But now, in light of recent waves of immigration lapping against the shores of this small, entitled island, our otherness is somewhat more familiar.”

I wrote about the Black British identity, travel, and immigration for a new magazine, Griots Republic.

You can read it online, from page 20.
